Observations from my bicycle on my daily commuting and riding through North Texas. Living in Texas is not a nightmare for cyclists, but there is not enough information out there to even convince Texans themselves. The objective of this blog is to bring light to the subject of cycling both locally, nationwide, and internationally from the vantage point of a bicycle.

Johnny,
ReplyDeleteI learned a few good things from the video. I really liked this one as it was not full of fancy concepts. I didn't know about the multi-colored spoke wrenches. And, I have the same Park Tool spoke wrench as well. However, I haven't ever dared to use one on any of my cycles.
If I may offer a suggestion, will it be possible to have a darker background for your video, so one can see which spoke you are pointing to or working on?
Again, thanks for the great lesson, Johnny!
Peace :)
Hi Chandra,
DeleteThanks for your suggestion. I did this video on the fly in my garage. I'll make another revised one with better lighting in the future. I was actually getting ready to go out on my ride when I noticed the wheel was off center on my bike.
When you look at your wheel, you will see spokes are angled to inwards from left to right and spokes angled outwards from right to left. The inward facing spokes pull the wheel to the left when tightened. The outward facing spokes pull the wheel to the right. It's hard to visualize this so I'll explain it better in another video for sure. Thanks for watching!
