I also feel that everybody is looking for their 15 minutes of fame on Instagram. The pursuit of internet clout is what drives wanna be "professional" cyclists to cycling vacations with the family in tow. There is nothing wrong in participating in a cycling event overseas, I've actually done it. I think where many go wrong is making the entire trip about themselves and leaving the family to just sit by as spectators. That is a neo narcissism phenomenon that is unique to this generation unfortunately.Johnnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07799461560427184888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1676384460764494844.post-29802392700154001192024-02-05T20:54:07.642-08:002024-02-05T20:54:07.642-08:00I feel it's one of those things that you can b...I feel it's one of those things that you can be profitable with if you have done it a bunch of times in the past and have a way of servicing in a compact space. I prefer to not offer those services because a lot of times I would be working in the client's garage and would not want to make a mess in their homes.Johnnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07799461560427184888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1676384460764494844.post-41834615532642772162024-02-05T20:51:32.083-08:002024-02-05T20:51:32.083-08:00Sure, to each his own. That makes for a clean garage, no decision paralysis on what bike to ride and in many cases a happy wife as well. As time has gone on, I've come to the realization that we use more space than we need and own more things that we really have the time for.Johnnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07799461560427184888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1676384460764494844.post-12716316542125794012024-02-05T20:46:41.705-08:002024-02-05T20:46:41.705-08:00You've described every owner's experience ...You've described every owner's experience with this bike. It is definitely not a race bike, but sturdy like a tank and it doesn't break the bank *see what I did there;) . If you are looking for a bike that lasts a really long time, lower maintenance and for the price you can throw it around without a care in the world, the Four Corners is your bike. My feedback has changed in the sense that I no longer have this bike but at times still wished I have kept it now that I no longer do fast or long rides. Also, I now understand the benefit of having a bike for bad roads because my roads are bad in my area. So those are the only observations that have changed.Johnnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07799461560427184888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1676384460764494844.post-14765479938557602302024-02-05T20:32:07.098-08:002024-02-05T20:32:07.098-08:00Hi Alex! If you are living in the metro area a gravel or gravel adventure category bike will cover almost all of your needs. Some mountain bike trails will require a legit mountain bike (ex: Northshore, Erwin Park, Isle Du Bois) but most flat trails can also be ridden on the Four Corners or Marin's other gravel offering, the Nicasio Plus. Review on that coming soon!Johnnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07799461560427184888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1676384460764494844.post-24265005027529012232023-12-07T17:54:00.387-08:002023-12-07T17:54:00.387-08:00Intersting points. I think you forgot to add that...Intersting points. I think you forgot to add that cycling seems to be an insanely addicting sport, so much so that cyclists will do anything to be on their bikes. I know people that put the bike first, before their jobs, before their spouses and even their kids! I see this day in and day out. The entitlement era is in full swing. “I need this, I deserve this”. I even know people (seems to be mostly Dads) that can’t go on a vacation without bringing their bikes with them and even dragging their family to locations that are centered in biking destination. I can’t figure it out for the life of me. It doesn’t get more selfish IMO. I plan to ride a combination of paved road, gravel and single track and I also want to try bike packing, but I am not sure what bike to get. One minute I think hardtail mountain bike but then the next minute I think something more road friendly but that can also handle some off road (like the Marin Four Corners). So as someone who has a lot of experience in cycling, what do you suggest? Thanks. I am purchasing a Four Corners and live in the mountains of central OR.
